Grants

The European Commission has provided grants to 7 NGO consortiums in the MEDA region to implement projects aiming at “Enhancing the Opportunities for Women in Economic Life” (EOWEL).

The objectives of the EOWEL projects are:

		to improve integration of women in the labour markets
		to facilitate the creation and management of enterprises by women
		to provide better access to financial tools and mechanisms
		to develop capacity building, education and vocational training for civil servants and members of non-profit organizations, NGOs, Mediterranean resources centres ad focal points

The 7 EOWEL partners started up activities as of January/February 2006 with project durations of between 18 and 30 months. The financial management of these contracts is the responsibility of the EC delegation in Lebanon.
