General Summery

The project aims to advance the economic status of women through micro and small enterprises and career development. El Mobadara, the lead Egyptian partner in partnership with 5 NGOs in Upper Egypt and Al Masara in Jordan provide a combination of financial & non financial services for women entrepreneurs to start their own business, as well as opportunties for unemployed women. To date, the project has established 5 Gender and Employment Resource Centres with in each a gender officer and a project coordinator assisting women to access credit and business development services required for the effective management of their business. Since the beginning of the project 5645 women have benefited from micro credit and SME projects, and 1112 women have benefited from training seminars. Ongoing activities involve training staff on gender equality in SME, gender media analysis, preparing Gender Impact Assessment of Micro Finance and SME, and compiling a leadership package for benefeciaries.
