Seminar on National Women Machineries, 13-14 June 07

The Euromed Role of Women in Economic Life seminar on National Women's Machineries was held from 13-14 June 2007 in the Conrad Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.

The seminar offered a platform for presenting and discussing the outcome of the research topic of National Women’s Machineries. This is the first regional meeting of its kind. It provided a forum for actors from government bodies and civil society across the Mediterranean to discuss national women's machineries, their achievements as well as their shortcomings. Participants eagerly shared experiences from their countries, debated issues related to the role and performance of national women's machineries, and brainstormed both over urgent needs in this context and the means required to meet them. Participants hailed from Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, and Turkey. The report on the seminar highlighting the issues, discussions and recommendations emerging fro the sessions will soon be available on our website. Read full report available in Englih and Arabic.
